First Female Guard on the Wensleydale Railway

Congratulations have been flying in for Sue Threadgold on passing her guard’s assessment to become the first female guard on the Wensleydale Railway following a period of training for the role.

Sue has worked for GSPK Circuits since January playing an integral part of the Quality team. Sue is a regular volunteer for the Wensleydale Railway and began her support in August 2015 when following induction, Sue passed her Personal Railway Safety (PRS) assessment and began as a Level Crossing Keeper.

Sue learned about Wensleydale Railway volunteering whilst working for another volunteer on the Ripon Canal where he suggested the railway, which adds to a long list of transport-related activities including cycling, motor cycling and even flying an aeroplane!

“I like do lots of different activities as it means meeting new people, doing something for the local community and volunteering is a very satisfying experience,” commented Sue.

Sue’s long term ambition is to become a driver on the Wensleydale Railway
