After 35 years at GSPK Circuits, Ian Kenyon has seen the PCB industry change in ways few others have - and he’s still leading from the front.
From fast-turn prototypes to complex defence sector projects, Ian’s focus is simple: listen first, solve problems quickly, and deliver exactly what the customer needs.
With the DSEI show in London coming up in September, we sat down with Ian for a quick Q&A on his experience, his approach, and why a “can do” attitude makes all the difference.
35 years. Every one of them at GSPK Circuits. I’ve seen a lot of change in PCB manufacturing - and my hairline, which disappeared along the way! GSPK has evolved from a humble PCB maker to a market-leading UK and global supplier. I’ve moved through roles across customer engagement, technical sales, and now lead our sales direction.
I combine deep technical knowledge of PCB production with a people-focused approach. I listen first to understand needs. Then I match quality, speed, and pricing to deliver the right solution.
We offer UK manufactured fast-turn prototypes to the larger production runs customers need. This may be standard technology or specialist boards: heavy copper for power electronics, copper coin and DTE for thermal management, HDI, RF/microwave, IMS, rigid-flex, and embedded-component PCBs. All offered with finishes like lead-free HASL, immersion silver, ENIG, and in-house ENEPIG—unique in the UK. We support customers along the way and deliver every project with a design-for-manufacture review to optimise performance and producibility.
We apply lean operational management across all projects. We handle high-mix, low- to medium-volume runs at industry-leading lead times.
Listen first. Understand the challenges and requirements. Then provide the best technical solution at the right price point. My technical knowledge of PCB production allows me to match solutions to the customer’s exact needs.
I think everyone knows UK and European defence spending is increasing. UK defence companies are looking for Sovereign Supply, but many long-established UK PCB manufacturers are at capacity with long lead-times. I now work closely with defence contractors who need shorter lead-times from a high-quality UK PCB manufacturer.
The DSEI show in London from 9–12 September 2025 is a key opportunity to meet these customers face-to-face. It brings together the most influential defence organisations and decision-makers from the UK and around the world. We will be in the Make UK Defence section. I will be there as will our Technical Director Jonathan Calver to meet existing partners and starting conversations with new ones who want technical expertise, reliability, and speed from their PCB supplier.
